STAND UP NY TO KEEP COMICS WORKING DURING CRISIS; ANNOUNCES LIVE-STREAM
STAND UP NY joins the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by asking comedy lovers to stay home. Tuesday March 17, they kick-off a comedy marathon of 50 comedians performing on stage from 10am-10:30pm.
As part of the comedy community, Stand Up NY hopes to keep people laughing through this chaotic time while giving comics the opportunity to continue honing their craft and keeping the comedy community safe.
Club Owner Dani Zoldan said “we understand these are difficult times for everyone and we’d like to offer people some comic relief.”
He said, like most New Yorkers, he was “experiencing the stress and uncertainty of business and his childrens school closures, but has always thought laughter is the best medicine.”
“Dozens of comics have reached out to me expressing interest in going on stage even without an audience in the room. We’re hoping this social distancing passes quickly, but for now we’re going to keep comics on stage. Comedy fans can be entertained from the comfort and safety of their own home”. Zoldan said.
LaughPass members will be able to view the live-stream for free, but anyone wanting to lighten their isolation can pay $5 to watch at standupny.com.
Comedian Calise Hawkins says “I’m so excited to take part in this marathon live-stream. It’s important that comics keep working and make people laugh during these crazy times”.
Past the marathon day of comedy, Stand Up NY plans to continue live-streaming most shows. If comics would like to get involved, Zoldan encourages them to email firstname.lastname@example.org.
